Set of 2 Handcrafted Paper Mache Decorative Bowls – Rustic Textured Potpourri Holders, Centrepiece Table Décor
A pair of footed paper mache bowls in the same shape and two sizes, in a warm greige with subtle darker mottling. Each has a thick, slightly wavy rim, an upright band that ends in a soft ridge and a narrow pedestal foot, with a matt, crinkled paper texture.
For dry use only. It is not waterproof and not for the dishwasher.
Each bowl is designed in the UK, then pressed by hand over a mould in Jaipur and painted by hand.
The finish is painted by hand, so the colour and texture vary a little from bowl to bowl.
Potpourri, keys or whole fruit. Not waterproof, and not for the dishwasher.
Made and painted by hand, so yours will differ slightly from the photographs.
2 pieces in total
Large bowl
Warm greige, with a more pronounced ridge below the upright band.
Small bowl
Same shape with a softer, rounder taper; nests inside the large bowl.
Dry use only. It will hold whole fruit such as bananas and apples, potpourri or keys. Not waterproof, so keep it away from water and never put it in a dishwasher.
Colour, texture and the exact shape shift a little from one piece to the next. That variation is the point, not a fault.
The making
Aala India is a UK home decor brand. Each bowl is designed in the UK, then made in Jaipur from recycled paper pulp, pressed by hand over a mould, left to dry and painted by hand.
Because each bowl is made and painted by hand, each one varies slightly: a rim sits a fraction wider on one, a brush mark catches the light on another. The variation is the material telling you a person made it.
Yes. Each piece is made by hand from recycled paper, then painted by hand.
Dry things only: whole fruit such as bananas and apples, potpourri or keys. It is not waterproof, so keep it away from water and anything wet, and never put it in a dishwasher.
Dust it with a dry, soft brush or a dry cloth. Do not use water, wipes or cleaning sprays, and never put a piece in a dishwasher. Paper and water do not mix.
Not exactly. Every piece is painted by hand, so the depth of colour and the run of a line vary a little from one to the next. Screens and room lighting shift colour too, so yours may read a shade warmer or cooler at home.
Keep it somewhere dry and at room temperature. A loft or a garage can get damp, and paper does not like damp. Wrap the piece in tissue, then store it in a rigid box so nothing presses on it.
Email us and we will refund or replace it. If a piece arrives damaged, a photograph of the damage and the packaging helps us sort it out quickly.
